Overtones, oil on canvas, 16 x 20”, 2007

I painted portraits of the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago over a two-year period, as I saw it from different angles.  This allowed me to see and respond to the effects of light on the limestone arcades, colonnades, and porticos, and to think about scale and the meaning of the architectural ornament over the course of time.
